The short version
Canada has real free TV. An indoor or roof antenna picks up CBC, Radio-Canada, CTV, Global and Citytv in most cities at no monthly cost. Broadcasters' own apps, such as CBC Gem, stream many shows free with ads. Free 'IPTV playlists' shared online are a different story: unreliable and often unsafe.
- Antenna: free over-the-air channels in most cities
- CBC Gem and other broadcaster apps: free with ads
