The short version
VLC, the free open-source player, can open IPTV from an M3U link. Choose Open Network Stream, paste the link we send, and open the playlist to browse channels. It has no TV guide, so it suits computers and quick checks more than daily TV viewing.
- Free on every major platform
- No TV guide
| App | Runs on | Pricing model | Login type |
|---|---|---|---|
| VLC media player | Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and iPad, Android | Free and open source | M3U |
VLC says it cannot open the link
Check that you pasted the whole M3U link, including the username and password parts, and that your trial is active.
When VLC is the right tool
VLC is perfect for a quick check: if a link plays in VLC, the problem is in the other app, not the stream. It also works on almost any computer. For daily TV, though, it has no proper guide and no favourites, so switch to a dedicated player once you know the link is fine. On a phone, VLC can play a single stream but is clumsy with a full playlist.
